2025 UMAC Women’s Golf Championship Preview

BECKER, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) is ready for an exciting three days of action at the Women's Golf Championship set to begin at 11 a.m. this Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club. The tournament runs October 2-4 with the winner earning the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA DIII Championship in May 2026.

Here's some of the key information to know before the championship begins Thursday:

Championship History
  • The University of Northwestern won last year’s championship by shooting 1030 (+166).
  • The Eagles are the two-time defending UMAC Champions.
  • The Eagles’ Morgan Eckman repeated as the individual medalist as the Individual Champion in 2024 with a score of 241 (+25) in her second collegiate season.
  • Northwestern has won three of the past four championships with titles in 2021, 2023, and 2024. The University of Minnesota Morris Cougars won the 2022 championship.
  • Eckman and Paige Johnson set the 36-hole scoring record at the Championships as each carded 159s.
  • Eckman later set the 54-hole scoring record at the Championships with her 241.
  • Since 2006, Northwestern has the most championships among active UMAC members with six, while Minnesota Morris follows with three.

2025 Season Highlights
  • Northwestern won the UMAC Preview with a team score of 338. The Eagles had four varsity team members and one individual finish in the top ten overall.
  • Eckman was the individual medalist at the Preview with her score of 80.
  • Shelby Cash of Crown College was three-strokes behind Eckman for second-place at the UMAC Preview.
  • Of the five events this fall for UMAC teams, Northwestern has won all five: UNW Invite, UMAC Preview, Viking Invite, BLC Invite, and the MLC Invite. 
  • Northwestern had the lowest team round this fall with a 303 at the Midwest Region Classic.
  • Eckman and teammate Paige Johnson have carded the lowest individual rounds this fall with 72s. Eckman's was during the second round of the Ives Grove Firebird Fall Classic, and Johnson's was at the first round of the Midwest Region Classic.
  • Eckman leads all UMAC competitors with her 76.4 average. Teammate Bri Brandt follows at 80.2.
