2026 UMAC Men’s Golf Championship Preview

BECKER, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) is ready for an exciting three days of action at the Men's Golf Championship set to begin at 11 a.m. this Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club. The tournament runs October 8-10 with the winner earning the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA DIII Championship in May 2027.

Here's some of the key information to know before the championship begins Thursday:

Championship History
  • UW-Superior won last year’s championship with a 913 team score.
  • The Yellowjackets held a six-stroke lead over second-place Bethany Lutheran at last year's championship.
  • Andrew Rude of UW-Superior won medalist honors as the Individual Champion, as he won the three-player playoff.
  • UW-Superior has won six of the past eight championships. Bethany Lutheran's 2021 championship broke the Yellowjacket streak as BLC shot 934 (+70) to win the title.
  • Since 2005, UW-Superior has the most UMAC Championships with six, North Central is second with five,  Bethany Lutheran and Crown are tied for third with three, and Northwestern is fifth with two.
2025 Season Highlights
  • Bethany Lutheran won the UMAC Preview with a 298 team score.
  • Anthony Nicholai of the Vikings earned medalist honors at the UMAC Preview as he won the three-person playoff on the first hole.
  • On the season, Northwestern (301.6) and Bethany Lutheran (304.2) are within five strokes of each other by average round atop the UMAC team leaderboard.
  • UNW had the lowest team round this fall with a 287 at the Carthage Invite in Sept. 
  • Minnesota Morris' Kaden Burscheim had the lowest individual round this fall with his 67 at the Morris Tri on Sept. 25. 
  • Northwestern's Carson Besonen currently leads all UMAC competitors with his 74.7 season average.
  • UW-Superior's Blu Anderson and Minnesota Morris' Kaden Burschiem follow closely behind with their 74.8.
