2025 UMAC Men’s Golf Championship Preview

BECKER, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) is ready for an exciting three days of action at the Men's Golf Championship set to begin at 11 a.m. this Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club. The tournament runs October 2-4 with the winner earning the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA DIII Championship in May 2026.

Here's some of the key information to know before the championship begins Thursday:

Championship History
  • North Central University won last year’s championship by shooting 954 (+90) as team.
  • The Rams held a five-stroke lead over second-place UW-Superior at last year's championship.
  • Conner Willard of UW-Superior won medalist honors as the Individual Champion with a score of 230 (+14)
  • UW-Superior has won five of the past seven championships. Bethany Lutheran's 2021 championship broke the YellowJacket streak as BLC shot 934 (+70) to win the title.
  • Since 2005, UW-Superior and North Central are tied with the most UMAC Championships with five, Bethany Lutheran and Crown are tied for third with three, and Northwestern is fifth with two.
2025 Season Highlights
  • Northwestern and UW-Superior tied for first at the UMAC Preview with team scores of 300 (+12). 
  • Jakob Swanson of Northwestern earned medalist honors at the UMAC Preview after tying Matthew Unger of Superior as each carded a 72, and Swanson won the playoff on the first hole. 
  • On the season, Northwestern (298.3), UW-Superior (301.7), and Bethany Lutheran (303.0) are all within five strokes of each other by average round atop the UMAC team leaderboard.
  • UNW had the lowest team round this fall with a 285 at the BLC Invite on Sept. 26.
  • Jakob Swanson and Northwestern's Shane Sheiffert had the lowest individual rounds this fall as each shot a 67 at the BLC Invite on Sept. 26.
  • Seiffert currently leads all UMAC competitors with his 73.6 average this season. Teammate Luke Frazell follows closely at 73.8, Keaton Ginter of Bethany Lutheran completes those averaging under 74 with his 73.9.
