2025 UMAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Awards

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced the recipients of their 2025 men’s indoor track & field awards on Thursday. The awards are nominated and voted on by the UMAC track & field head coaches. Only results from the UMAC Indoor Championship meet count for consideration in the awards. 
 
Andrew Deedon of the Crown College Polars and Arthur Robinson of the Martin Luther College Knights both earned the Top Scoring Athlete of the Meet award as they tied for the highest point total at the UMAC Championship with 38 points each. Robinson placed first in the 4x200 (1:30.95) and the 4x400 (3:28.53), second in the 200 meters (22.72) and 400 meters (51.73), third in the triple jump (13.12m) and long jump (6.40m), and fourth in the 60 meters (7.23).
 
Deedon was also named the Track Athlete of the Meet. The Crown sophomore won two events at the UMAC Championship: the mile (4:28.83) and the 800 meters (1:59.69). He also placed second in the 5000 meters (16:21.18), 3000 meters (9:13.27), and distance medley relay (11:46.13). Deedon led all competitors with 38 points in track events.
 
Alexander Burnham of the Crown Polars was named the Field Athlete of the Meet. The Crown sophomore won the shot put (14.56m) and placed third in the weight throw (13.13m) at the UMAC Championship. He led all competitors with 16 points in field events.
 
Jesse Ortiz of the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets was named the Rookie of the Year. The UW-Superior freshman won the 200 meters with a time of 22.43 seconds, breaking the previous conference record of 22.52 set by the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings’ Aaron Stewart at last year’s championship. Ortiz also placed second in four events: the long jump (6.43), 60 meters (7.08), 4x200 (1:31.52), and 4x400 (3:32.39).
 
The UW-Superior Yellowjackets coaches earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors. The Yellowjackets, led by head coach Glen Drexler in his 15th season, won the UMAC Indoor Championship for the ninth year in a row with a 242-point performance.
 
The University of Northwestern Eagles won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches and awarded to the team that best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season. Each team also had one representative earn all-sportsmanship honors.
 
All-Conference recognition is given to individuals who finished in first or second place in an individual event and to members of relay teams who finished in first place in a relay event at the UMAC Championship.
