Northwestern wins 2025 UMAC Women’s Soccer Regular Season Championship

ROSEVILLE, Minn. –  The University of Northwestern (10-5-3 overall, 9-1-2 UMAC) won the 2025 UMAC Women’s Soccer Regular Season Championship on Saturday with the 4-1 win over Minnesota Morris.

This marks the sixth overall UMAC regular season title in program history for the Eagles, and first since 2017 under first-year head coach Danny Brandt.

UNW jumped to an early 1-0 lead as Marie Kendall found Haley Mersberger for a goal at 4:58 into the contest.

The Eagles would add another just before halftime at 42:52 as Kendall netted her attempt.

Kendall scored again at 66:35 on a pass from Meghan Corbett before Minnesota Morris got on the scoreboard with a goal at 79:17 as Caitlin Lau connected on a feed from Ziviara Cordova.
Mersberger tallied the final goal for Northwestern at 81:29.

The Eagles held the team advantages in shots (25-1) and corner kicks (11-0).

With the regular season title victory, Northwestern has clinched the No. 1 seed in the UMAC Women’s Soccer Tournament. The Eagles will host the No. 4 seed, Minnesota Morris, in a semifinal game on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m.
