BECKER, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets and North Central University Rams stand tied atop the 2024 UMAC Men’s Golf Championship leaderboard after Friday’s second round at Pebble Creek Golf Club. UW-Superior trailed by two strokes after round one, but outshot North Central in round two 322 (+34) to 324 (+36) to level the two teams at 647 (+71) heading into the final day of the championship.
 
The Yellowjackets’ Connor Willard and Rams’ Jake Sweeney led their teams on Friday, shooting 75 (+3) to tie each other for the best second round score. Willard moved into a three-player tie for first place individually at 157 (+13) while Sweeney moved up to a tie for fourth place at 158 (+14).
 
The University of Northwestern Eagles shot 327 (+36) on Friday, bringing their total to 652 (+76). UNW stands in third place just five strokes back from UW-Superior and North Central. The Eagles’ Carson Mersberger stands part of a three-player tie for first place at 157 (+13) heading into the final day of the championship.
 
The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings finished Friday in fourth place at 653 (+77); just one stroke back of Northwestern and six back from leaders UW-Superior and North Central. The Vikings are led by Keaton Ginter, who joins the Yellowjackets’ Willard and the Eagles' Mersberger in the three-player tie atop the individual leaderboard at 157 (+13).
 
The third and final day of the UMAC Championship tees off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5.
