North Central Wins 2024 UMAC Men’s Golf Championship

BECKER, Minn. – The North Central University Rams won the 2024 UMAC Men’s Golf Championship on Saturday, shooting 954 (+90) as a team to win by five strokes. The championship ran October 3-5 at Pebble Creek Golf Club.
 
The Rams were led by Jacob Sweeney, who placed third overall by shooting 233 (+17) through the three-day championship. Hector Avila followed Sweeney in a tie for fourth place with 238 (+22). Noah Klapmeier finished third for NCU and eighth overall, shooting 241 (+25). Jacob Brown finished fourth for the Rams and tied for 14th overall at 246 (+30). Cameron Jackson had the fifth North Central finish, placing 25th overall with 258 (+42).
 
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets place second at the championship with a team score of 959 (+95). Conner Willard led UW-Superior, earning medalist honors as the Individual Champion by leading the field of 40 golfers with a championship-best score of 230 (+14). Matthew Unger and Nate Burke both had top-ten overall finishes for the Yellowjackets. Unger shot 242 (+26) to place ninth and Burke shot 243 (+27) to finish tied for 10th.
 
The University of Northwestern Eagles finished third as a team, shooting 963 (+99). Carson Mersberger led Northwestern at the championship, tying for fourth overall with 238 (+22). Noah Frazell followed right after, tied for sixth overall with 239 (+23). Shane Seiffert tied for 10th overall after shooting 243 (+27) for the Eagles.
 
With their championship victory, the North Central Rams will represent the UMAC in the spring at the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship, which runs May 20-23, 2025 at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York.
