ST. PAUL, Minn.— Bethany Lutheran College and the University of Northwestern-St. Paul were crowned co-champions of the 2026 UMAC Softball Regular Season Championship as each finished with a 16-2 record in conference play.
This represents the fifth UMAC regular season title and fourth-straight for the Vikings in program history.
This marks the third UMAC regular season title for the Eagles in program history and first since 2008.
Bethany Lutheran and Northwestern faced off in a three-game head-to-head series this weekend for the final conference series of the regular season. The Vikings entered the series with a one-game lead over the Eagles atop the UMAC softball standings.
Host-Northwestern won the opener 6-1 Friday night. The Eagles claimed the first game of Saturday’s twinbill 9-1 in six innings, before Bethany Lutheran won the finale, 9-7.
With tiebreakers applied (head-to-head competition) Northwestern will be the No. 1 seed in next weekend’s Conference Tournament.
The conference tournament, a four-team double-elimination tournament, will be hosted by Northwestern this upcoming Thursday-Saturday, May 7-9 at Reynolds Field in Roseville, Minn. The tournament champion will receive the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
