Bethany Lutheran, Northwestern Advance to UMAC Softball Tournament Championship Day

MANKATO, Minn. – The second day of the 2025 UMAC Softball Tournament took place on Friday at Thomas Park in Mankato, Minnesota. By the end of the day, the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings and the University of Northwestern Eagles had punched their tickets to Saturday’s championship day.
 
GAME 3: Bethany Lutheran 3, UW-Superior 2
  • Bethany Lutheran opened the day with a 3-2 win over the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets.
  • UW-Superior had jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but an RBI double by Emily Doyle tied the game for BLC 2-2.
  • A throwing error by the Yellowjackets in the fifth lead to the go-ahead run being scored by Bethany Lutheran.
  • Emily Meyer pitched a complete seven innings for the Vikings while striking out five and allowing just two runs in the win.
GAME 4: Northwestern 8, Minnesota Morris 1
  • Northwestern took game four of the tournament in an 8-1 victory over the University of Minnesota Morris.
  • A five-run fourth inning broke the game open for UNW as Lani Schoper hit a two-run double and Jayden Iverson launched a three-run home run.
  • Ireland Strubbe earned the win for UNW in the circle, allowing just one earned run and five hits while striking out four in 4.2 innings pitched.
GAME 5: Northwestern 8, UW-Superior 7
  • The Eagles took the final game of day 8-7 over UW-Superior secure their ticket the championship games on Saturday against Bethany Lutheran.
  • UNW leapt out to a 3-0 lead by the second inning, but the Yellowjackets responded with a three-run home run and an RBI single to take a one-point lead in the bottom half of the frame.
  • The Eagles responded by scoring five runs over the ensuing innings to take an 8-4 lead.
  • UW-Superior cut Northwestern’s lead down to one run in the sixth inning, but the Eagles pitching and defense held on the rest of the way to secure the one-run win.
  • Strubbe earned a second win on the day in the circle after entering the game in the second inning to pitch the rest of the way.

- There will be limited parking available for spectators on Thursday and Friday near the playing field (see parking map provided). 
- If this lot is full on Thursday and Friday, additional parking will be provided at Hosanna Lutheran Church (105 Hosanna Dr. Mankato, MN 56001) with a SHUTTLE SERVICE AVAILABLE to the field.
- For Saturday, spectators can park at the lot located near the playing field as there should be adequate availability. 
- NO SPECTATOR PARKING ON STREET BY THE FIELD.
 
SUNFLOWER SEEDS
- Sunflower seeds are NOT allowed in the venue and near the playing field. 
 
NO ALCOHOL OR TOBACCO
- Alcohol and tobacco are STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the complex.
- Fans are STRICTLY PROHIBITED from bringing coolers into the complex.
 
CONCESSIONS
- Concessions will be available at the complex.
- No outside food/beverage is allowed (only for teams).
