ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings’ senior
Stephanie Witbrod will represent the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this upcoming weekend after qualifying for the national championship in shot put.
Witbrod punched her ticket to the shot put national championship with a throw of 13.79 meters at the Drake Alternative on April 26. That mark has her tied for 21
st in the nation this spring and tied for 20
th in the field of participants at the national championship this weekend.
At this year’s UMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, Witbrod was the Top Scoring Athlete of the Meet and was named the Field Athlete of the Meet. The Vikings’ senior earned All-Conference honors for shot put, hammer throw, and triple jump.
The NCAA DIII Outdoor Championship is a three-day event that runs May 22-24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Whitbrod will compete in the shot put national championship at 1:00pm central time on Friday, May 23.
The UMAC is an NCAA Division III member comprised of eight full-time member schools from Minnesota and Wisconsin: Bethany Lutheran College, Crown College, Martin Luther College, North Central University, Northland College, University of Minnesota Morris, University of Northwestern, and University of Wisconsin-Superior.
