Wisconsin-Superior Leads UMAC Women’s Indoor Championship After Day One

SUPERIOR, Wis. – At the close of the opening day of the UMAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Champion, the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets lead the conference with 76 points. Eight event championships were decided on Friday with nine more to be decided on Saturday.

Wisconsin-Superior’s Halle Barker won the 5000 Meter championship for the Yellowjackets, running a 19:02.59 to win the gold.
 
The University of Northwestern Eagles stand in second with 59 points. UNW won the most event championships on Friday, bringing home the gold in three events: the 400 Meter (Grace Moravchik, 1:02.09), the Mile (Emery Maki, 5:20.32), and 4x200 (1:50.06).
 
Bethany Lutheran College is third in the standings after the opening day with 48 points. Stephanie Witbrod won two event championships for the Vikings, winning the Long Jump (5.05m) and Weight Throw (14.17m)
 
The Crown College Polars won an event championship in the Distance Medley Relay (13:13.40).
 
Martin Luther’s Ella Shlei earned a championship for the Knights, winning the High Jump (1.56m).
