UMAC awards academic all-conference honors for 2020-21

ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) honored 1,078 student-athletes with academic all-conference recognition for outstanding performance in the classroom, the conference office announced Monday.

Individuals who earn a 3.5 or better grade point average (GPA) during their respective semesters of competition are recognized with the prestigious honor. The UMAC also recognizes the top team in each sport that records the overall best GPA for its respective semesters.  

The College of St. Scholastica finished with the highest number of student-athletes recognized with 172 awards, while the University of Northwestern was second with 162 and the University of Minnesota Morris was third with 146. 

In the team competition, St. Scholastica, Martin Luther and North Central tied for a UMAC-best four honors. Northwestern was right behind CSS, MLC and NCU with three honors each. NCU's Women's Indoor Track & Field team boasted the best GPA with a 3.96. 

Crown secured a team honor in Men's Basketball with a 3.62 GPA to round out the collection of team award recipients.
