Steve Birman helped the Cougars to a 2-1 record this week with their only loss coming from Div. II foe Southwest Minnesota State University. Birman averaged 23 points per game, including 28 points in the season opener. For the week he shot 57.1 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from 3-point range.

Sophomore forward Tom Gisler shot a blistering 62.5 percent from 3-point range (5 of 8) in a 74-68 win over Macalester last week. He finished the game with 18 points and seven rebounds while also contributing on the defensive end by tallying two blocks and a steal.

Junior Zach Meyer nearly averaged a double-double for the week by scoing 16 points and pulling down nine rebounds per game. He shot 64 percent from the field for the week and recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against North Central.

Brett Tester helped the Saints to a 1-1 record on the week, with their only loss coming from Div. II foe University of Minnesota, Crookston. In that contest, Tester scored 24 points on 10 of 13 shooting. For the weekend he shot 72 percent from the field.

Derek Anderson tied a school record and set a Land of Magic Classic record by making 10 3-pointers against Union College. He followed that performance by sinking eight tres against Buena Vista. He averaged 30 points for the two contests and went 18 of 29 from behind the arc.

Crown David Glover posted 30 points and six rebounds in a 96-90 overtime loss to Finlandia last week. Glover was four of six from behind the three-point line w hile making 67 percent of his shots overall from the floor.

Channing Coffey nearly averaged a double-double for the week, averaging 27.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Coffey also added 12 assists, six steals, and six blocks to his totals for the week.

Junior Josh Muellner nearly averaged a double-double for the week, scoring 28.3 points per game and grabbing 9.3 rebounds per contest. He shot 61 percent from the field and also added five blocks on the week.

Greg Holzhueter – SR | G | Martin Luther College
The Knights went 2-1 last week, thanks in part to an efficient effort by senior Greg Holzhueter. The guard shot 77.8 percent from behind the arc for the week and in three games was able to score 49 total points. He only took 25 shots for the week in reaching that point total.

The Cougars of Minnesota-Morris were 3-0 last week behind the hot shooting of sophomore Derek Schmidt. He shot 73.1 percent from the field for the week. He was a perfect 8-of-8 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the line with a 23-point, 10-rebound effort in a comeback win over Martin Luther.

Behind the lights out shooting of Derek Peterson, the Vikings collected two big wins this weekend to tie them for second place in the UMAC standings. Peterson averaged 16.5 points per game in wins over Northland and St. Scholastica and was 75 percent from behind the arc.

Finishing the regular-season in style, Eric Dalby of Minnesota-Morris scored 25 points on 50 percent shooting in a 76-73 win over St. Scholastica. The senior averaged 19.5 points per game on the weekend.
