The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee provides student athletes with an active role in the governance of the Conference. It is made up of two student athlete representatives from each of the UMAC member institutions. Committee members are expected to represent the viewpoint of the student athletes on their respective campuses and to serve as a vital communication link between the conference and its student athletes.
A secondary role is to enhance the image of the student athletes both on campus and in the community. In this manner, the UMAC SAAC is committed to engaging in campus service projects and to serving as positive role models for their peers and younger athletes.

UMAC SAAC Spotlight
Each week on Thursdays, the UMAC highlights one student-athlete who serves as an integral member of their institutional SAAC in the "UMAC SAAC Spotlight." At the institutional, conference and national levels, SAAC represents the Division III student-athlete voice and provides opportunities for student-athletes to be actively engaged in their campus communities.

2021-22 Community Service Highlights
Each year the UMAC SAAC selects a theme for all institutional SAAC groups to participate for community service activities. The theme for 2021-22 is "food." Each school SAAC and athletics teams are encouraged to participate in service opportunities that involve "food" such as collecting food donations, serving food to underserved populations, packing food with organizations, etc. Below are higlights of some of the activities UMAC schools have participated in.
Bethany Lutheran - Trick-or-Canning
On Sunday October 31, the Bethany Athletic Teams went around neighborhoods in Mankato collecting food for the Echo Food Shelf. The event was named Trick-or-Canning since it was held on Halloween. In the week leading up to the day of the food drive, Bethany SAAC members went around spreading flyers to different neighborhoods that gave details about the event. In total, the teams collected 1631 pounds of food, and also collected $66.
Wisconsin-Superior - Week of Giving/Caroling for Cans
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Athletics Department participated in its annual caroling for cans event during their week of giving. Each team ventures their way out in Superior going door to door caroling classic Christmas songs and collecting cans from our local neighborhood. All of the gathered cans are donated to the St. Vincent food shelf. This event allows for the teams to bring holiday cheer to our community and donate food during the time of need.
