UMAC Athletes of the Week: Jan. 12-18, 2026

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their Athlete of the Week award winners Tuesday in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s indoor track and field. The awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications staff and selected each week by the latter group.
 
Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
Carvin Fish, So, Minnesota Morris, F
Sisseton, S.D./ Tiospa Zina Tribal School
 
Fish led the scoring for the Cougars last week totaling 48 points (24 ppg). His best performance of the week came at the University of Northwestern where he scored 29 points while shooting 12-for-16 from the field, 1-of-4 from three and 4-of-6 at the free throw line. Against North Central, Fish recorded his second double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Cougars 80-74 victory.
 
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
Grace Perry, Jr, Minnesota Morris, G
Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead
 
Perry made a difference for the Cougars offensively and defensively recording a double-double in both games last week. In the UMAC Game of the Week, the junior guard scored 17 points, making four three-pointers, and grabbed 10 rebounds she also added four assists and three steals. Perry followed that outing with 12 points and 13 rebounds while chipping in two assists and two steals. She finished the week with 29 points, 23 rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
 
Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Sam Plocher, Jr, Martin Luther
Kent, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran
 
Plocher picked up where he left off the past two seasons as the junior earned first in the 60m hurdles (8.51) and tied for second in the high jump (1.94m).
 
Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
R.J. Perry, Jr, Martin Luther
Bruce, S.D./Great Plains Lutheran
 
Perry had a big first meet at the Ole Opener hosted by St. Olaf on Saturday. Perry broke a pair of MLC indoor records that he previously held in the shot put and weight throw. Perry heaved the shot put 13.98 meters for first place and took another top spot in the weight throw with a mark of 15.18 meters.
 
Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Camille Ring, Jr, Crown College
Waseca, Minn./Waseca
 
Ring set a 60m hurdles time of 9.37 good for first in the UMAC. She was also on the 4x200m relay team for the Polars who set a UMAC-best time of 1:52.46 at the Ole Opener.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Amaya Willis, So, Minnesota Morris
Bismarck, N.D/Legacy
 
At the Ole Opener, Willis won the weight throw. The sophomore recorded a distance of 14.47 meters for a personal best along with the eighth-best throw in program history. Willis currently leads the UMAC in the weight throw by over a meter.
