Greenville Wins 2025 UMAC Men’s Tennis Tournament Championship

MINNEAPOLIS – The Greenville University Panthers (21-5) won the 2025 UMAC Men’s Tennis Tournament Championship on Saturday with a 4-2 victory over the defending-champion Principia College Panthers (12-9). The UMAC postseason title is the second in program history for Greenville, who last won in 2023.

Greenville jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a victory in doubles. Principia took the No. 1 match 6-2, but Andres Sanchez and Jade Dynamic took the No. 2 match 6-3 while Clark Kent and Francisco Trujillo Garcia won the No. 3 match 6-2. With two wins, Greenville secured the doubles point.
 
In singles, Principia started gaining ground with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Greenville, however, matched that with two wins of their own in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, with Kent winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and Dynamic sweeping the No. 6 match 6-0, 6-0.
 
The deciding match would prove to be the No. 1 singles match. Sanchez took the opening set 6-4, and rallied to win a thrilling 7-5 second set to clinch the 4-2 match victory and the UMAC title for Greenville.

With the UMAC Tournament victory, Greenville has earned the UMAC’s automatic bid and will advance to compete in the NCAA DIII Men’s Tennis Tournament.
 

The UMAC is an NCAA Division III member comprised of eight full-time member schools from Minnesota and Wisconsin: Bethany Lutheran College, Crown College, Martin Luther College, North Central University, Northland College, University of Minnesota Morris, University of Northwestern, and University of Wisconsin-Superior.
