ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their Athlete of the Week award winners Tuesday in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s track and field. The awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications staff and selected each week by the latter group.
Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
Adam Loberger, So, Martin Luther, F
Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran
Loberger averaged 22 ppg, 9.7 rpg, and shot 19-21 (90 percent) from the charity stripe across three contests this past week for MLC. The Knights went 2-1 in those games, with a 65-61 victory over Trinity Bible College (North Dakota) on Wednesday and an 85-68 win over Maranatha Baptist on Saturday. Loberger notched a double-double in both of MLC's wins.
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
Mya Morris, So, Martin Luther, G
Perham, Minn./Perham
Morris averaged 26 ppg, 3.5 spg, and shot 46.5 percent from the floor in a pair of blowout victories against Trinity Bible College (North Dakota) on Wednesday and Maranatha Baptist on Saturday. Morris also dished out six assists in the win over Trinity and had a career-high performance against the Sabercats with 32 points.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Jerome Thomas III, Fy, Minnesota Morris
Buffalo, Minn.
In his first collegiate track meet, Thomas III ran a 7.15 in the 60 meters to tie for sixth all-time in Minnesota Morris history. Thomas currently has the fastest time in the 60 meters in the UMAC.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Brandon Kellett, Fy, Bethany Lutheran
Excelsior, Minn./ Minnetonka
In his first collegiate track meet, Kellett set the Bethany program record in the pole vault at the MSU-Mankato Chuck Peterson Open on Friday. Kellett's clearance of 12-3.5 broke the previous school record of 11-10.5, set by Josh Bruender in 2014.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Camille Ring, Jr, Crown
Waseca, Minn./Waseca
Ring had another dominant meet, having the top time in the UMAC in two events at the SDSU Holiday Open last Friday. Her 25th in the 60m (8.30) and 29th in the 60m hurdles (9.93) were also tops in the conference.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Sam Kedsch, So, Bethany Lutheran
Daggett, Mich./Carney Nadeau
Kedsch set the school record in the women's long jump at the MSU-Mankato Chuck Peterson Open on Friday. Kedsch's leap of 17-4.25 broke the previous mark of 17-0.5, set by Stephanie Witbrod in 2023. She jumped to three-straight personal bests and improved her PR by .4 meters. Kedsch also finished eighth overall in this event.
