ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced the recipients of their 2025 women’s soccer awards on Tuesday. The awards are nominated and voted on by the UMAC women’s soccer head coaches.
Elena Luján Rubio from Bethany Lutheran was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Year. She led all players in UMAC contests with 19 goals and 46 points and she was second with eight assists.
Mallory Moseman from Northwestern earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. She helped anchor the Eagles’ defense that ranked first with only allowing five goals over the 12 conference games. UNW also registered shutouts in eight of those contests.
Marie Kendall from Northwestern was named Rookie of the Year. Among all conference players in league games, the freshman ranked third in goals (11), first in assists (9), and second in points (31).
Danny Brandt of Northwestern and Ryan Nichols of Bethany Lutheran were named Co-Coaches of the Year by their peers. Brandt, in his first season with the Eagles, led them to their first regular season title since 2017. Nichols, in his second season with the Vikings, guided them to back-to-back nine-win seasons and saw Lujan Rubio break the career goals and points school records.
Martin Luther and Northwestern won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches and awarded to the team that best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season.
Each team also had one representative earn all-sportsmanship honors.
Offensive Player of the Year: Elena Luján Rubio, Bethany Lutheran
Defensive Player of the Year: Mallory Moseman, Northwestern
Rookie of the Year: Marie Kendall, Northwestern
Coach of the Year: Danny Brandt, Northwestern & Ryan Nichols, Bethany Lutheran
