UMAC Athletes of the Week: Sept. 29-Oct. 5, 2025

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their Athlete of the Week award winners Tuesday in the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball. The awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications staff and selected each week by the latter group.
 
Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Maverick Hoogland, So, UW-Superior
Catawba, Wis./Phillips
 
Hoogland led the Yellowjackets at this weekend's Blugold Invite, hosted by UW-Eau Claire. His mark of 27:00.1 not only led his teammates and the entire UMAC, but also established a new 8K personal record.
 
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Emery Maki, Jr, Northwestern
Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing
 
Maki led the charge for the Eagles, marking a 23:58.9 finish in the Blugold Invitational 6K on Friday. Her time was just four seconds shy of her career-best, but was fast enough for a season best.
 
Football Offensive Athlete of the Week
Jamarrius Courtney, So, Crown, QB
Minneapolis, Minn./Chaska
 
Courtney totaled three touchdowns with 149 yards rushing with 2 rushing touchdowns in Saturday’s 22-3 win over Northwestern. He also threw for 73 yards and one touchdown.
 
Football Defensive Athlete of the Week
Gregory Ohman, Sr, Minnesota Morris, LB
Lake Nebagamon, Wis./ Northwestern
 
Ohman led the Cougar defense in their home opener. The senior linebacker totaled 18 tackles (10 solo and eight assisted tackles). Ohman had five TFLs combining for 20 yards, two sacks for nine yards and a forced fumble. On the final play of the game, Ohman sacked the quarterback securing a 35-28 win for the Cougars over Martin Luther.
 
Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week
Williams LaShawn, So, Greenville, KR
Eustis, Fla./Eustis
 
Took the opening kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown return as Greenville won 38-24 over Westminster (Mo.)
 
Men’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week
Jake Anargyros, Fy, Minnesota Morris, F
Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley
 
Anargyros scored both of the Cougars' goals this week. Against Northwestern, Anargyros scored from the field of play in the 1-1 draw. Then against North Central the first year forward converted from the penalty spot in another 1-1 tie.
 
Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week
Nick Isensee, Sr, Minnesota Morris, GK
Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee
 
Isensee ended the weekend 0-0-2 in net for Minnesota Morris. The senior goalkeeper made 12 saves with seven coming against Northwestern.
 
Women’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week
Marie Kendall, Fr, Northwestern, M
Dakar, Senegal/Dakar Academy
 
Kendall finished with 4 goals and 2 assists with 16 shots on target on the week. Entering the game on Saturday, the freshman had 3 total goals, leaving St. Bonifacius, she had 6 total goals for her first collegiate hat trick. Kendall assisted or scored on all but one of Northwestern's 7 goals this week.
 
Women’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week
Mallory Moseman, Sr, Northwestern, D
Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy
 
Moseman anchored the defense in their two shutouts, allowing 2 shots for Crown and 4 shots on target for Morris. She also scored her first career goal against Crown College. The senior captain played all but 3 minutes through both matches.
 
Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week
Ana Egge, So, Northwestern, OH
Rapid City, SD/Rapid City Christian
 
Egge exploded for a career-high 20 kills (5.00 per set) in UNW's upset win at #20 Gustavus on Wednesday, adding a pair of blocks as well. In Northwestern's 2-0 week, the sophomore tallied 26 kills (3.71 per set) and hit .385.
 
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Addeson Jenniges, So, Northwestern
Walnut Grove, Minn./Westbrook
 
Jenniges had another phenomenal week as the Eagles went 2-0 to extend their winning streak to six matches. In Wednesday's upset win at #20 Gustavus, the sophomore dished out 48 assists (12.00 per set), adding 6 digs, 1 ace and 1 block. In Saturday's sweep at Minnesota Morris, she tallied 33 assists, 9 digs, 1 ace and 1 block, giving her 81 assists (11.57 per set) for the week. Jenniges's 10.45 assists per set this season rank seventh in all of NCAA DIII.
 
Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week
Savanna Hering, So, UW-Superior, DS/L
Superior, Wis./Superior
 
Hering continued to lead the Yellowjackets defensively this past week. She logged 21 digs against St. Scholastica before facing off against Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther this past weekend. She tied her career-high of 29 digs versus the Vikings while adding 14 more against Martin Luther, leading to a 2-0 weekend in UMAC play.
