ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) awarded 548 academic all-conference awards to fall sport student-athletes for excellence in the classroom, it was announced Wednesday. This is the second-most in conference history for the fall season, trailing only the 558 awards from the fall of 2023. Of the 548 award winners this fall, 160 had a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Individuals who earn a 3.5 or better grade point average (GPA) or better during their respective semesters of competition are recognized with the prestigious individual honor, while the team with the top GPA in each sport is also recognized. Student-athletes were acknowledged for academic achievement in the sports of men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer and volleyball. 

Martin Luther College led all members with a fall-best 104 student-athletes honored. University of Northwestern had the second-most student-athletes earn recognition with 86 honorees. University of Wisconsin-Superior was third with 75 academic award winners. Crown College (68), Bethany Lutheran College (64), North Central University and University of Minnesota Morris (50), and Northland College (19) rounded out the full-member award winners. Greenville University (20) and Westminster College (12) both had award winners for football as associate members.

Women’s soccer had the most players recognized with 101 awards. Volleyball had the second-most award recipients with 100 honorees. Men’s soccer was third with 95 award winners, followed by football (89), women’s cross country (59), men’s cross country (46), men’s golf (31), and women’s golf (27).

In the team competition, Martin Luther claimed four of the eight awards which are given to the team with the top team GPA for their respective corresponding semesters. The Knights took the team awards in football, (3.36), men’s cross country (3.59), men’s soccer (3.47), and women’s soccer (3.71). Northwestern and North Central split the remaining four awards with the Eagles winning men’s golf (3.27) and volleyball (3.82) and the Rams earning women’s cross country (3.80) and women’s golf (3.82).
