UMAC Players of the Week: March 4-10, 2024

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Tuesday in the sports of baseball and softball for the week of March 4-10, 2024. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications/sports information staff and selected each week by the latter group. 
 
BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mason Cox, Senior, Martin Luther College
New Ulm, Minn. / Minnesota Valley Lutheran
- Cox had an impressive week for the Knights' spring break trip in Auburndale, Florida, going 22-for-38 in 10 games played, batting .579 with 2 HR, 17 RBI, 13 runs and four triples.
- The senior hit for the cycle in MLC's 29-11 win over Alfred University on Friday.
- In the game, Cox batted 7-for-7 at the plate with two triples and nine RBI.
- The left fielder also broke the Knights' career home run record (9) in the game.
 
BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Vinny Troccoli, Senior, Northland College
Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo. / Middle Park
- Troccoli had an impressive two games on the mound for the Jacks.
- First, he pitched a career-high 3 innings. He did not give up a hit and struck out four batters against Bethany College.
- After that appearance, he made his first collegiate start against Drew University where he pitched another two scoreless innings with one strikeout, one walk and gave up one hit.
                                                  
SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jadyn Iverson, Junior, University of Northwestern
West Fargo, N.D. / West Fargo
- Iverson was on fire at the plate for the Eagles in their first four Florida games last week.
- Finished the four game stretch 7-11 at the plate and drew a pair of walks.
- The slugger had an RBI in each game, finishing with 5 RBIs over the four games.
 
SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Kayla Senne, Junior, Bethany Lutheran College
Northwood, Iowa / Northwood-Kensett
- Senne appeared in five games for the Vikings this week, tallying 29.1 innings pitched posting an ERA of 3.8 ERA while striking out 33 batters.
- She posted a 1-3 record on the week which included a complete game in which she allowed just three runs to defending National Champion Trine.
