ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets lead the competition for the 2024-25 Kruse Award following the conclusion of the fall season. The award, named in honor of long-time Northwestern College (Wis.) and Martin Luther College athletic director Jerome Kruse, travels to the college with the most points accumulated by the place finishes of the college's athletic teams in the final standings of 18 conference sponsored sports.
The Yellowjackets currently stand atop the Kruse Award standings with 47 points after earning conference regular season titles in four of the eight UMAC fall sports: men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s soccer, and women’s soccer. UW-Superior was also the runner-up in volleyball and men’s golf.
The University of Northwestern Eagles are second in the standings with 43 points. UNW earned regular season UMAC championships in football, volleyball, and women’s golf this fall. The Eagles also finished third in men’s cross country, women’s soccer, and men’s golf.
The Crown College Polars stand in third with 31.5 points. Crown was the runner-up in women’s golf and women’s cross country. The Polars also placed third in men’s soccer.
The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings and Martin Luther College Knights are tied in fourth place with 27 points each. The Vikings were the runner-up in men’s soccer and women’s soccer. The Knights were the runner-up in men’s cross country, tied for second in football, and were third in women’s cross country.
The University of Minnesota Morris Cougars are sixth in the standings with 24.5 points. Minnesota Morris tied for second in football and took third in volleyball.
The North Central University Rams are seventh with 18.5 points in the standings. North Central won the men’s golf championship this fall.
The Northland College LumberJacks/LumberJills round out the fall Kruse Award standings with 4.5 points in eighth place.
