ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their Athlete of the Week award winners Tuesday in the sports of men's and women's basketball. The awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications staff and selected each week by the latter group.
MEN'S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tyrus Buckner, Senior, Crown Polars
Richton Park, Ill. / Homeschool
- Buckner totaled 29 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 63% from the field and 1-for-1 from three-point range in a 96-81 win for Crown over Luther.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lexi Hagen, Senior, Northwestern Eagles
Jordan, Minn. / Jordan
- Hagen continued to dominate for Northwestern in the Eagles' win against Carleton on Tuesday. She tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds with no turnovers. With her double-double performance, Hagen surpassed 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. She is the 18th player in Northwestern history to join the 1,000 point club and the 17th player to join the 500 rebound club.
The UMAC is an NCAA Division III member comprised of eight full-time member schools from Minnesota and Wisconsin: Bethany Lutheran College, Crown College, Martin Luther College, North Central University, Northland College, University of Minnesota Morris, University of Northwestern, and University of Wisconsin-Superior.
