WINTHROP, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior won the 2024 UMAC Men’s Cross Country Championship at the Winthrop Golf Course on Saturday. The championship title is the seventh in program history for the Yellowjackets and their seventh in the past eight years. UW-Superior won the championship with a team score of 22 points and an average time of 26:49.
Four Yellowjackets finished in the top five overall. Aidan Doherty led the way for the Yellowjackets, winning the UMAC Individual Championship by finishing first overall out of the field of 66 runners with a time of 26:09.5. Zachary Reese followed in second as the individual runner-up with a time of 26:14.4. Dylan Uitto took fourth overall with a time of 26:55.6. Ben Plackner finished fifth overall at 27:02.3. The Yellowjackets secured the team victory when Maverick Hoogland took 10
th overall at 27:45.6.
Martin Luther College was the runner-up to UW-Superior in the team standings, placing second with a score of 73 and an average time of 28:26. Micah Schibbelhut led the Knights with a seventh-place finish overall with a time of 27:18.0. Eliott Heiderich finished in the top-10 as well, placing ninth overall with a time of 27:36.6
The University of Northwestern Eagles took third place as a team, finishing with 87 points and an average time of 28:48. UNW was led by Jacob Weddle, who place eighth overall with a time of 27:19.1.
