UMAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Postseason Awards

St. Paul, MN - The outdoor track and field season wrapped up over the weekend, and Martin Luther has won the 2023 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The Knights sat in second place after day one but stormed back in day two to claim the UMAC championship. Head coach Breanna Olson was named Coach of the Year after leading Martin Luther to their first outdoor track championship in program history.

In the other major awards, Abby Pausch of Crown College won Track Athlete of the Meet after winning both the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 1500-meter run, while also finishing eighth in the 800-meter run. Stephanie Witbrod from Bethany Lutheran was awarded Field Athlete of the Meet after being in the top two in five different events, Witbrod won the triple jump, shot put, and long jump, and finished second in the high jump and hammer throw. Brycelyn Brewster of North Central was named Rookie of the Year after winning the 800-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay, all while finishing second in the 400-meter dash and eighth in the 200-meter dash.

The all-conference list includes individuals who placed first or second in an event and individuals of first-place relay squads.

Martin Luther won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches and awarded to the team that best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season. Each team also had one representative named to the individual sportsmanship award list.
