Wisconsin-Superior Wins Second Straight UMAC Jerome Kruse All-Sport Trophy
St. Paul, MN - The 2022-23 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) seasons officially have come to a close and so has the Jerome Kruse Award. The Jerome Kruse Award began in 1996-97 and is named after Mr. Jerome Kruse, a longtime athletic director at the former Northwestern College (Wis.) and Martin Luther. It travels to the full-member institution with the most points accumulated by the place finishes of the college's athletic teams in the final standings of 18 conference sponsored sports.

The Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets led the Kruse Award standings from start to finish this year, winning eight UMAC regular season championships and plenty of top half finishes to go along with it. The Yellowjackets finished with 110 points, tacking on championships this spring in men's tennis, and men's outdoor track and field. UW-Superior also finished second in baseball, softball, and women's outdoor track and field.
There was a tight three school race for second, with Bethany Lutheran, Minnesota Morris, and Northwestern all within seven points of each other. Bethany Lutheran was able to jump ahead of the Cougars for second place thanks to regular season conference championships in both baseball and softball this spring. Minnesota Morris had multiple top half finishes this spring to snag the third spot in the standings while Northwestern won the regular season title in women's tennis to finish fourth. The Martin Luther Knights, who entered the spring season a few points behind Crown, were able to jump the Polars thanks to a conference title in women's outdoor track and field and a second place finish in men's outdoor track and field.
