Greenville Men's Tennis Wins UMAC Men's Tennis Tournament Title
Minneapolis, MN - It was an exciting two days inside the Baseline Tennis Center, on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Greenville and Wisconsin-Superior both advanced to today's UMAC championship after winning their respective semifinal matches on Friday night. In the end, it was the Panthers who outlasted the Yellowjackets, ultimately winning the UMAC title by a score of 5-1.
The day started in doubles, with the Panthers taking two of the three matches to take an early 2-1 lead. The pairs of Andres Sanchez and Rafael Rodriguez, as well as Jordi Matuhen and Thibaut Tignee were able to Give the Panthers the early lead.
In singles, it was Andres Sanchez, Rafael Rodriguez and then Clark Kent put the finishing touches on things, winning match point to clinch things for Greenville. This conference tournament title is the second in as many years for the Panthers, who will move on to represent the UMAC in the NCAA Tournament.
