UMAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Postseason Awards

ST. PAUL, MN - For the first time ever, the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets have won the indoor track and field championship. Wisconsin-Superior finished the weekend with 171.5 points, 28.5 points better than Bethany Lutheran who finished in second place. In the postseason awards, the Yellowjackets had six athletes selected for all-conference.

Stephanie Witbrod earned the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet award and was the top scorer at the event after dominating most of Friday and Saturday. Witbrod won the high jump, weight throw, long jump, triple jump, shot put, 60-meter hurdles and she placed second in the 60-meter dash. Witbrod was dominant in the majority of the field events, and Track Athlete of the Meet Deanna Trucksess was almost just as dominant on the track. Trucksess won the 400-meter dash, 60-meter dash, and the 200-meter dash for Northwestern this weekend. Ruth Brueckner flashed as well, earning Rookie of the Year honors after winning the 4x400-meter relay and finishing second in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run.

The all-conference list includes individuals who placed first or second in an event and individuals of first-place relay squads. There were nine athletes this year who earned at least two All-UMAC finishes including Abby Pausch (Crown), Maya Habben (Martin Luther), Kayla Tobin (Bethany Lutheran), Deanna Trucksess (Northwestern), Ruth Brueckner (Crown), Stephanie Witbrod (Bethany Lutheran), Alexxa DeQuevedo (Wisconsin-Superior), Anna Anderson-Sanchez (Crown), Colleen Claude (Wisconsin-Superior), and Myla Volk (Wisconsin-Superior).

Bethany Lutheran won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches and awarded to the team that best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season. Each team also had one representative named to the individual sportsmanship award list.
