Bethany Lutheran Captures Men's Basketball Tournament Championship
MANKATO, MN - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Men's Basketball Tournament concluded on Sunday, with the Bethany Lutheran beating Wisconsin-Superior to win the title, and earn the UMAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

This one was way closer than the final score might indicate, the difference in the game was runs within the last few minutes of each half. In the first half, it was 38-36 Vikings with just under two minutes to go until halftime, the Vikings would then go on a 7-0 run to take a nine point lead into the locker room. In the second half, the Yellowjackets were within seven before a 21-10 run from Bethany Lutheran over the final six minutes and change to put the game out of reach down the stretch.
Rebounding and second chance points were both game changers for the Vikings, Bethany Lutheran outrebounded UW-Superior by thirteen, led by Mason Ackley's fourteen rebounds and outscored the Yellowjackets 16-4 in second chance points.
- Drew Sagedahl earned tournament MVP after pouring in another 18 points on Sunday.
- Bethany Lutheran had 16 second chance points compared to just 4 from UW-Superior
- J'Vaun Walker scored a game high 24 points for the Yellowjackets on 10-19 shooting.
