TOURNAMENT RECAP: UMAC Women's Basketball Semifinals
ST. PAUL, MN - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Women's Basketball Tournament got underway on Friday evening, the Northwestern Eagles and the North Central Rams both won their semifinal matchups to advance to the UMAC title game on Sunday. The No. 1 Northwestern Eagles will host the No. 2 North Central Rams on Sunday at 2:00 pm with a UMAC tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.

Northwestern has been the dominant team all year in UMAC play and they showed that again on Friday night. The Eagles were sparked by a 24-10 2nd quarter where the Eagles shot 54% from the field and were 8-10 at the line to extend the lead to 17 heading into halftime. Northwestern held the Cougars to just 2-12 from behind the arc and limited Minnesota Morris to just 5 free throws the whole night.
- The Eagles had 8 players score 5 points or more.
- Jasmine Sondrol led the way for Northwestern with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
- Jay Kwateh was the leading scorer for the Cougars tonight with 13 points on 6-12 shooting.
No. 2 North Central 52 No. 3 Wisconsin-Superior 50
This game had just a little bit of everything, the teams went back and forth all night but ultimately it was North Central that had a huge 3rd quarter, outscoring the Yellowjackets 19-7 to grab the lead back and just hang on to win by 2. The teams combined for 38 turnovers but the game came down to the last couple of seconds when the Yellowjackets had the potential game winner roll in and out to seal it for the Rams.
- Joelle Talso led the way for the Rams with 13 points on 6-10 shooting.
- North Central held Wisconsin-Superior to just 30% shooting from the field.
- The Yellowjackets were led by Kaelyn Christian who finished with 17 points.

All UMAC postseason events have the following set admissions prices: Adults, $10; college students and seniors, $5; youth (Age 6-18), $5; age 5 and under, FREE. Any UMAC students, faculty and staff are free with a valid and current institutional ID. No other passes will be accepted.
