Wisconsin-Superior Leads 2023-24 Kruse Award Standings After Fall Season

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets lead the competition for the 2023-24 Kruse Award following the conclusion of the fall season. The award, named in honor of long-time Northwestern College (Wis.) and Martin Luther College athletic director Jerome Kruse, travels to the college with the most points accumulated by the place finishes of the college's athletic teams in the final standings of 18 conference sponsored sports.

The Yellowjackets currently stand atop the Kruse Award standings with 52 points after earning conference titles in five of the eight UMAC fall championships. Wisconsin-Superior won UMAC Regular Season Championships in the sports of men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and men’s golf. In volleyball and women’s golf, the Yellowjackets finished third.
 
The University of Northwestern Eagles are currently second in the standings with 47 points. UNW earned regular season UMAC championships in volleyball and women’s golf this fall. The Eagles also finished as the runner-up in women’s soccer, men’s golf, and football.
 
The Crown College Polars stand in third with 34 points with the Martin Luther College Knights right on their heels in fourth with 33.5 points through the fall. Crown was the runner-up in women’s golf and placed third in women’s cross country. Martin Luther finished as the runner-up in both men’s and women’s cross country.
 
The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings and University of Minnesota Morris Cougars are separated by just two points, with BLC standing in fifth with 30.5 points and UMM following in sixth with 28.5 points. The Vikings were the runner-up in men’s soccer and took third in women’s soccer. The Cougars won the UMAC football championship and were the runner-up in volleyball.
 
The Northland College Lumberjacks/Lumberjills with 21.5 points and the North Central University Rams with 15 points round out the fall Kruse Award standings. Northland earned a third-place finish in men’s soccer. North Central placed third in the men’s golf championship.
