ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Tuesday for the week of December 4
th through the 10
th in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s track, and men’s and women’s field. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications/sports information staff and selected each week by the latter group.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cade Carroll, Graduate Student, Crown College
Buena Vista, Colo. / Buena Vista
- Carroll averaged 23.5 ppg and 10 rpg leading Crown to two wins.
- Had a 32-point performance against Northland and a Double-Double against UW-Superior.
- Totaled 47 points, 20 rebounds, four steals, and three assists with zero turnovers.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caitlyn Ryan, Sophomore, North Central University
Papillion, Nev. / Papillion-La Vista
- Ryan had a monster week for the Rams averaging 17.3 ppg, 9.7 rbg, 3.3 apg, and 4.0 spg across three games.
- This includes 17-point and 19-point performances in road wins over Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther to start conference play 2-0.
MEN’S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ethan Westimayer, Senior, University of Wisconsin-Superior
Laona, Wis. / Laona
- Westimayer made a huge impact in the Yellowjackets' first indoor event of the season, as his 60m times of 7.24 in the prelims and finals matched his career second-best times in the event, earning a sixth-place finish.
- Additionally, he placed second in the 200m with a 22.66, which is a new school record. This time places him at 15th in the NCAA North Region.
WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Halle Barker, Junior, University of Wisconsin-Superior
Superior, Wis. / Superior Senior.
- Barker picked up a third-place finish at the CSS Early Bird in the mile race, clocking a 5:34.05.
- This was a PR of nearly 16 seconds and this also places her eighth overall in the NCAA North Region.
MEN’S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nate Ohman, Senior, University of Wisconsin-Superior
Lake Nebagamon, Wis. / Northwestern
- At the CSS Early Bird, Ohman made finals in both the weight throw and shot put. He tossed a weight throw of 14.92m, placing him sixth overall.
- In the shot put, he threw a 15.40m giving him fifth overall in the meet as well as a PR. His toss placed him third overall in the NCAA North Region, and 15th overall in all of NCAA Division III.
WOMEN’S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Emma Johnson, Freshman, University of Wisconsin-Superior
Centuria, Wis. / Unity
- Johnson made the finals at the CSS Early Bird in both the shot put and weight throw.
- In the shot put, she tossed a 10.60m giving her a sixth-place finish, while tossing the weight 14.49m that placed her fourth overall.
- Her performance in the weight throw is a new UWS freshman record, and this also sets Johnson as the second best freshman in NCAA Division III, 11th in the North Region, and 41st overall in all of Division III.
