UMAC Player of the Week Awards – November 6, 2023

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Monday in the sports of football and volleyball. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications/sports information staff and selected each week by the latter group. 

FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Paul Garrett, Senior, Greenville University
Goodwater, Ala. / Clay Central
- Garrett had 156 yards rushing and 45 yards receiving with one touchdown.
- Averaged 9.2 yards per carry.
- Also had an interception as a defensive player.
 
FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gregory Ohman, Sophomore, University of Minnesota Morris
Lake Nebagamon, Wis. / Northwestern
- Ohman and picked up a Martin Luther fumble and ran it back 92 yards for the game-winning score late in the fourth quarter of a 30-27 victory.
- Had a team-high eight tackles (all solo)
  
FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dominic Borges, Sophomore, University of Northwestern
Tualatin, Ore. / Tualatin
- Borges made all six kicks he attempted for the Eagles in their win over Westminster.
- Finished with 10 total points. 4-4 on PATs, 2-2 on field goals.
- Made attempts of 21 yards and 31 yards.
 
VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Abby Glanzer, Junior, No. 3 University of Northwestern
Brandon, S.D. / Sioux Falls Christian
- Glanzer was the Eagles' top offensive weapon in a week that they went 4-1 and clinched the UMAC Regular Season Championship.
- Played in four of the Eagles' five matches this week and racked up 63 kills (4.2 kills per set).
- Had 15 kills in only three sets in a win over Morris that clinched the conference championship for the Eagles.
 
VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
Grace Strickfaden, Junior, No. 3 University of Northwestern
Norwood-Young America, Minn. / NYA
- Strickfaden finished the week with 138 assists (7.6 assists per set) for the Eagles.
- Had 30 assists in a win over North Central and topped that with 43 assists in a win over Crown.
- In the five matches the Eagles played this week, she finished with a double-double in three of them.
 
VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marley Aune, Sophomore, No. 3 University of Northwestern
New Brighton, Minn. / Avail Academy
- Aune averaged exactly a block per set in the matches she played in this week, finishing with 13 totals blocks in 13 sets.
- At Minnesota Morris, Aune racked up 7 total blocks (two solo, five assists) in three sets to win the UMAC Championship and secure the one seed in the tournament
- She also finished the week with 26 kills (2.0 per set).
