2023 UMAC Men’s Golf Postseason Awards

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior won their fifth conference title in the past six years at the 2023 UMAC Men’s Golf Championship. The Yellowjackets headline the all-conference awards with four First Team selections. In addition, UWS earned two of the top four awards as freshman Blu Anderson was named Rookie of the Year and head coach Paul Eberhardt was named Coach of the Year.
 
North Central University senior Jake Sweeney was the UMAC Championship medalist. Sweeney finished the three-day event with a 227 (+11) to tie for first place after recording a championship-best round of 71 (-1) in the third and final round to force a thrilling playoff tiebreaker, which he won on the fourth hole to earn medalist honors.
 
University of Northwestern sophomore Shane Seiffert earned Player of the Year honors. Seiffert led the conference this fall with an average score of 75.6 in 13 rounds played and shot a 227 (+11) to tie first place at the UMAC Championship.

UW-Superior led the way on the All-Conference First Team list with four award winners. Nate Burke was one of those honorees, earned after leading the way for the Yellowjackets during the year, finishing second in the conference in scoring average at 76.3 in 14 rounds and closing the season with a third-place finish at the UMAC Championship. Andrew Rude earned First Team honors as well, following right behind Burke at the championship with a fourth-place finish and a season average of 78.4 in 14 rounds. Connor Willard earned First Team honors as well, shooting 78.7 on the year and tying for sixth overall at the championship. Blu Anderson earned First Team honors to go along with his Rookie of the Year award, earned after shooting the fifth-best average in the conference at 76.9 this fall.
 
North Central followed UW-Superior with three All-Conference First Team honorees. Championship medalist Sweeney earned the award after averaging the third-best score of the season at 76.9 in 14 rounds. Jacob Brown was also named First Team for the Rams, averaging a 76.8 in 11 rounds. Ben Long earned First Team honors as well, placing seventh in the conference with an average score of 77.2 in 13 rounds.
 
Northwestern had two players earn All-Conference First Team awards. In addition to conference Player of the Year winner Seiffert, Jackson Nyhus earned conference honors with a fifth-place finish at the UMAC Championship and the eighth-best average in the conference with 77.7 in 13 rounds.
 
Jakob Swanson of Bethany Lutheran earned the final All-Conference First Team award after averaging a 78.2 in 11 rounds on the year, which was the ninth-best in the conference. The Vikings had an All-Conference Honorable Mention winner as well in Keaton Ginter, who averaged a 78.3 in 11 rounds.
 
Crown College had a pair of All-Conference Honorable Mention award winners. Drake Dawson and Adam Thomas earned the honors after shooting 80.1 and 81.5 on the year, respectively.
 
Martin Luther College’s Sam Hansen earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention, recording the sixth-best average score of the season at 77.2 in 13 rounds.
 
Mathias Warrington of University of Minnesota Morris took home All-Conference Honorable Mention honors, having averaged an 83.7 in nine rounds this fall.

Crown won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches and awarded to the team that best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season, including the championship event. Each team also had one representative named to the individual sportsmanship award list.
