UMAC Player of the Week Awards - May 2, 2022
ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Monday in the sports of baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications/sports information staff and selected by the latter. The awards are regularly published Monday afternoons.
The award winners and descriptions of their accomplishments for the week are below:

BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Liam Peterson, Jr., Bethany Lutheran
Port Orchard, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran
- Went 11-for-16 (.688) with .773 on-base% in 3-1 UMAC week for the Vikings
- Recorded nine runs, five RBI, four HBP, two walks and four stolen bases
- Recorded three extra-base hits including a home run
BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Bryce Crabb, Jr., Northwestern
Des Moines, Iowa/Grand View Christian
- Pitched 18 scoreless innings in three Eagle wins on the week
- Recorded first Northwestern no-hitter since 2008 in win over Minnesota Morris
- Surrendered just four total hits with 17 strikeouts
SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryton Kukowski, So., Wisconsin-Superior
Duluth, Minn./Hermantown
- Went 13-for-24 (.542) to lead Yellowjackets to program-first UMAC title
- Finished with 11 RBI, seven runs and four doubles
- Recorded a hit in 6-of-7 games with five multi-hit games
SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Tayler Kraemer, So., Wisconsin-Superior
Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights
- Went 4-0 with four complete games in six appearances
- Recorded 1.89 ERA in 29.2 innings of work with 16 strikeouts
- Allowed just one run and struck out six in UMAC title-clinching win over BLC
MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes, Sr., Wisconsin-Superior
Brasilia, Brazil/Centro de Ensino Medio Paulo Freire
- Went 6-0 in three UMAC title-clinching wins for the Yellowjackets
- Recorded three wins at No. 2 singles
- Added pair of wins at No. 1 doubles
WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Annie Orvis, Fy., Northwestern
Rochester, Minn./Schaeffer Academy
- Won seven matches to lead Northwestern to back-to-back UMAC titles
- Tallied three UMAC wins at each No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles
- Clinched title win with 6-2, 2-6, 10-5 win vs. UW-Superior Sunday
MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jeremiah VanAcker, So., Crown
East Bethel, Minn./Forest Lake
- Placed second in 1,500-meter run at Gustavus Saturday
- Clocked UMAC-best time of 4:01.67
- Time was second-best in program history
MEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Luke Petersen, Jr., Minnesota Morris
Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Trabuco Hills
- Set a school record in hammer throw Friday at Saint John's
- Won the event with UMAC-best mark of 150.73 meters (166-5)
- Added fifth-place finish in the discus
WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LeAnn Gow, Sr., Wisconsin-Superior
Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors
- Won the 400-meter dash at Saints John's Friday
- Clocked UMAC-best time of 59.42
- Finished second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.66)
WOMEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jenica Moes, Sr., Minnesota Morris
Kranzburg, S.D./Watertown
- Earned two second-place finishes at Saint John's
- Set school discus record with UMAC-best mark of 41.42 meters (135-10)
- Threw 36.16 meters (118-7) in javelin performance
