UMAC Player of the Week Awards - April 25, 2022

ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Monday in the sports of baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and athletics communications/sports information staff and selected by the latter. The awards are regularly published Monday afternoons. 

The award winners and descriptions of their accomplishments for the week are below:

BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
14387Kyle Schroedle, Sr., Crown
Redding, Calif./University Prep
- Went 11-for-17 (.647) with 12 RBI and eight runs in four UMAC wins
- Launched five home runs with two multi-home run performances
- Finished 5-for-5 with four runs and four RBI vs. Martin Luther



BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
14309Owen Boerema, Jr., Northwestern
Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield
- Pitched eight-inning 6-1 win over Minnesota Morris
- Struck out 12 batters with just five hits
- Just the first run allowed against a UMAC opponent this season



SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
14239Kaela Kraemer, Jr., Wisconsin-Superior
Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights
- Went 19-for-30(.633) and slugged .900 in 6-2 week for Yellowjackets
- Finished with 15 runs, 11 RBI and 19 stolen bases
- Recorded five extra-base hits including three triples



SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
14196Kayla Senne, Fy., Bethany Lutheran
Northwood, Iowa/Northwood Kensett
- Went 3-1 in the circle with three complete games
- Recorded 1.45 ERA in 24.1 innings of work
- Tallied 25 strikeouts including 10 in win over Northwestern



MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
14178Michael Janes, So., Wisconsin-Superior
Bismark, N.D./Legacy
- Led UW-Superior to two UMAC wins to improve to 5-0
- Recorded two wins at No. 1 singles
- Earned 6-2, 4-6, 11-9 win vs. Bethany Lutheran



WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
14389Annie Orvis, Fy., Northwestern
Rochester, Minn./Schaeffer Academy
- Won all six matches to help Northwestern to three wins
- Earned three straight-set wins at No. 2 singles
- Dropped just seven total singles points in three matches



MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
66194 x 400-meter Relay Team, Bethany Lutheran
Ashburn, Wildauer, Anderson, Jack
- Placed fifth in 4 x 400-meter relay at Carleton Relays
- Clocked UMAC-best time of 3:35.27
- Time was third-best in program history



MEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
14354Cody Nye, Jr., Minnesota Morris
Soldotna, Alaska/Soldotna
- Set a school record in shot put Saturday at UW-La Crosse
- Place fourth with UMAC-best mark of 15.37 meters (50-5.25)
- Throw currently ranks 28th in NCAA Division III this season



WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
14092Nicole Koski, Sr., Wisconsin-Superior
Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon
- Placed eighth in steeplechase at UW-La Crosse Meet
- Ran 12:49.7 in first-ever attempt in the event
- Owns third-best time in UMAC this season



WOMEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
14317Stephanie Witbrod, Fy., Bethany Lutheran
Douglas, Wy./Douglas
- Place fifth in shot put to break seven-year school record
- Recorded mark of 11.79 meters (38-8.25)
- Currently first in the UMAC in the event
