Wisconsin-Superior comes up big for sixh-consecutive UMAC men's indoor championship

SUPERIOR, Wis.---For the sixth-consective year, the University of Wisconsin-Superior won the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday by a sizeable margin of 133 points. 

The Yellowjackets won six events to add to their four event wins from Friday for a total of 254. The Yellowjackets swept the relays with a win in the 4 x 400-meter relay Saturday. The champion also claimed all but three of the track events contested over two days and two of the three field events Saturday.

Notables
  • Derrick Moe led the way for the Yellowjackets winning his second event of the weekend with a victory in the 3,000-meter run to follow up on his title in the 5,000-meter run Friday. 
  • Pending other results in the nation, Gage Stankiewicz' winning throw of 15.70 meters (51-6.25) in the shot put could position him in the top 15 in NCAA Division III.
  • Jake Marzinske of Bethany Lutheran College won two events on the day capturing the title in the 60-meter hurdles and repeating as champion in the triple jump. 
  • Crown College's Jeremiah VanAcker placed second in the 3,000-meter run and earned the Top Scoring Athlete of the Meet with 29.5 points thanks to finishes in five different events.
