Yellowjackets Win UMAC Women's Soccer Tournament for Second Consecutive Year

SUPERIOR, WI - For the second consecutive season, the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets have won the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Yellowjackets offense was unstoppable throughout the UMAC Tournament, scoring twelve goals over a two game stretch. On Saturday against Northwestern, it was the Mya Holmquist and Niya Wilson show, both scoring three goals a piece en route to a 6-0 win. 

UW-Superior struck for two goals in the first half, first in the eleventh minute on a goal from Mya Holmquist, nine minutes later, Holmquist scored again to put the Yellowjackets ahead 2-0. 

In the second half the Yellowjackets scored twice in a matter of two minutes to essentially put the game away by making it 4-0 on a couple of goals from Niya Wilson. They would go on to add two more goals in the fifty-fifth and eighty-sixth minute, one goal each from Holmquist and Wilson. Niya Wilson was also awarded the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament.

The Yellowjackets were great defensively as well all tournament long, not giving up a single goal. On Saturday, Jenna Lang had a phenomonal game in net for UW-Superior, totaling eight saves on the day.
