Habben, Knights Top 2022 UMAC Women's Cross-Country Awards
ST. PAUL, MN.- The 2022 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) women's cross country championship crowned a champion on Saturday with Martin Luther College capturing the team title for the second straight year. Breanna Olson earned Coach of the Year accolades, while Maya Habben of Martin Luther College was the top finisher and individual medalist.

Olson's Knights won the third title in program history and with a team total of thirty-five points which was thirty-four points better than runner-up Bethany Lutheran College. The Knights led the All-UMAC performances with five total honorees and a conference-best three First Team selections. All-UMAC First Team honorees were Maya Habben (1st), Hannah Kratz (2nd), and Abigail Hillmer (6th), while Claire Tomhave (11th), and Leah Nushart (15th) were All-UMAC Second Team selections.
Habben won the individual championship by clocking a time of 23:30.5 that was eight seconds faster than the rest of the field.
A total of 16 student-athletes were recognized for their finishes in St. Bonifacius on Saturday. All-UMAC First Team honors were awarded to the top eight finishers while the next eight were honored with All-UMAC Second Team nods.
Runner up Bethany Lutheran had three All-UMAC selections including one on the first team. North Central also had two runners receive All-UMAC First Team honors with Crown also receiving an All-UMAC First Team selection.
The University of Wisconsin-Superior and Northland College won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches and awarded to the team that best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season, including the championship event. Each team also had one representative named to the individual sportsmanship award list.
