PREVIEW: UMAC Cross Country Championship
ST. BONIFACIUS, MN - For the first time ever, the UMAC Cross Country championship will be held on the campus of Crown College this Saturday. On the men's side the University of Wisconsin-Superior looks to claim the UMAC title for the second consecutive year and the fifth time in the last six years. On the women's side, Martin Luther College is looking to defend their title after winning the UMAC championship last year for the first time since 1995.
This season, UW-Superior was the top finishing men's UMAC team at three events where common UMAC teams were competing. On the women's side, Martin Luther was the top finishing UMAC team at each of the three events where there were multiple common UMAC teams competing. 2021 UMAC Champion for the men, Jeremiah VanAcker (Crown), returns for the Polars after posting a time of 26:53.6 to pace the field last year. On the women's side, 2021 UMAC Champion Kayla Tobin (Bethany Lutheran), also returns this season after posting a time 23:30.5 a year ago.
