Cougars' Raph Headlines UMAC Men's Golf Awards
ST. PAUL, MN - For the fourth time in five years, the University of Wisconsin-Superior men's golf team captured the UMAC Championship by just two strokes over the University of Northwestern. The first team all-conference selections were very balanced however with five different schools receiving All-UMAC First Team honors. North Central University led the way with three All-UMAC First Team selections, followed by Crown, Northwestern, and Wisconsin-Superior all ending up with two All-UMAC First Team selections each. Brady Raph of Minnesota Morris medaled and was also tabbed the 2022 UMAC Player of the Year following his outstanding season.
Northwestern took home both the Rookie of the Year Award and the Coach of the Year Award with Shane Seiffert taking home Rookie of the Year and Billy Aune taking home Coach of the Year. The Eagles finished second at the UMAC Championship over the weekend. Seiffert had a phenomonal freshman season, finishing in the top ten seven times this fall while winning two events. He averaged a score of 77.0, good for third in the UMAC.

UMAC Championship Results
The Yellowjackets wrapped up the fall season sweeping the UMAC golf events in the UMAC Preview and the UMAC Championship after shooting a 959 (+95) as a team over the weekend. Wisconsin-Superior had two players in Cody Stanisich (6th) and Charles Martin (T3rd) finish in the top eight of the UMAC Championship to qualify for the All-UMAC First Team. Receiving UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors was Nate Burke.
Although North Central came in fifth at the UMAC Championship, they led the UMAC with three All-UMAC First Team selections after their impressive regular season that included a third place finish at the UMAC Preview. Ben Long (5th) and Jacob Sweeney (8th) were both named to the All-UMAC First Team by finishing in the top eight at the UMAC Championship while Kaleb Thinglestad was named to the All-UMAC First Team via the coaches' vote.
Northwestern had a strong showing on the All-UMAC First Team as well with Shane Seiffert (2nd) and Max Wilcox (T3rd) finishing in the top eight of the UMAC Championship. Jackson Nyhus was named to the UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention team after just missing out on All-UMAC First Team Honors. The Eagles had a great season highlighted by second place finishes at both the UMAC Preview and the UMAC Championship.
Crown also had two All-UMAC First Team honors, one being Lane Thomas (7th) for finishing in the top eight at the UMAC Championship and then Drake Dawson via the coaches' vote. Tyler Stonecipher received UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors after an impressive season as a freshman. After finishing in fifth a season ago at the UMAC Championship, the Polars saw big improvements this season as they were in second place after day two before ending up in third place on Saturday.
Bethany Lutheran also appeared on the all-conference teams with Sam Hansen and Keaton Ginter receiving honors on the UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention team.
Highlighting things on the men's side was Brady Raph of Minnesota Morris who was the 2022 UMAC Men's Golf Medalist he was the leader the whole way through before winning the event by eight strokes on Saturday. This is also Raph's second straight UMAC Player of the Year award. Raph led the UMAC in average scoring this year, averaging a score of 73.7 over eleven rounds this fall. The junior had a phenomonal season, finishing in the top ten in seven of the nine events he competed in, while winning four of them.
