ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Spring 2021 Women's Soccer All Conference Awards on Wednesday afternoon.

St. Scholastica's Morgan Friday was named Offensive Player of the Year following CSS' Regular Season and Postseason UMAC Championship titles.

UMAC Postseason finalist UW-Superior earned the remaining three major awards. Goalkeeper Mogan Philliber earned Defensive Player of the Year while teammate Lindrey Schendel received the Rookie of the Year nod. Yellowjacket Head Coach Alison DeGroot was voted Coach of the Year by her peers.

Friday produced another historic season for the Saints, netting a UMAC-best 27 goals and adding eight assists. She earned UMAC Offensive Player of the Week three times in 2021 and leads all of Division III in both points per game (6.89) and goals per game (3.0).

She has now led the UMAC in goals in each of her three seasons with CSS, racking up 73 thus far in her career. This is her third Offensive Player of the Year honor and her fourth-overall UMAC major award, being named Rookie of the Year following her 2018 freshman season.

UWS' Philliber started in 10 games between the pipes for the Yellowjackets, posting a 1.00 goals against average, second-best in the UMAC. She recorded five shutouts and had 37 saves, averaging a .833 save percentage in eight UMAC contests.

With Philliber as the backbone, UWS only surrendered .63 goals per game in conference play, allowing just five goals on the season. She is the first Yellowjacket in program history to be named UMAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Schendel made an impact on the offensive end in her first year with UWS, racking up 29 total shots, 10 on goal, for per-game averages of 3.63 and 1.25, respectively, in UMAC play. Schendel scored in the Yellowjackets 8-0 win over Northland and added an assist in a 2-1 victory vs. Minnesota Morris. She becomes the first UWS' women's player to earn UMAC Rookie of the Year honors.

DeGroot led her program to a 7-3 overall record, including a 6-2 mark in UMAC competition. The Yellowjackets then downed UMM in the UMAC Semifinals, advancing to the UMAC Championship game for just the second time in program history.

UWS had five total honorees on the All-UMAC team, two on the First Team and three Second Team selections. DeGroot earns her second-career Coach of the Year honor, being named to the same award in 2019.

Northland won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches and awarded to the team that best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season. Each team also had one representative named to the individual sportsmanship award list.
