Wisconsin-Superior claims fifth-consecutive UMAC tourney title with OT win
SUPERIOR, Wis.---The University of Wisocnsin-Superior needed less than 10 seconds of overtime to claim its fifth-consecutive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) men’s soccer championship Saturday. The No. 1-seed Yellowjackets overcame an early deficit to defeat No. 2 Bethany Lutheran College 2-1.

In a winner-take-all matchup between the UMAC regular season co-champions, the No. 2 Vikings wasted no time getting things going in their favor on the road Saturday. Aiden Whitcomb scored off a throw in just 37 seconds into the title game on the setup from Cameron Brookfield.
The Vikings' lead didn't last long, though, as the Yellowjackets evened the score at 1-1 when Blake Doyea tallied a goal in the 20th minute on an assist from Blake Perry.
The first half continued at an evenly matched pace with both squads taking eigth shots. Bethany Lutheran had slightly more opportunities in the second half including a penalty opportunity in the 83rd. Payton Anderson had to come in for the Yellowjackets in goal and came up with a save on the penalty kick.
Neither team could break the tie in regulation to set up an exciting overtime opportunity. It didn't last long as Josh Bellamy scored just nine seconds into extra time on a pass from Perry.
Perry assisted both goals in the championship win and had a goal and two assists in the semifinal to earn him Tournament MVP honors.
Wisconsin-Superior will learn its national tournament opponent in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Selection Show set for Monday, Nov. 8 at 12 p.m. (CT) on
