The Yellowjackets jumped out to a 5.5-point lead over the University of Minnesota Morris with 37.5, thanks to three regular season conference championships. The University of Northwestern is behind Minnesota Morris with the slimmest margin at 37 points.

Wisconsin-Superior started off the fall with a championship win in men's cross country – the fourth for the program since the Yellowjackets' joined the UMAC in 2015-16. A fourth-straight regular season title in men's soccer also collected points for the Yellowjackets, as did a program-first championship in women's soccer.

The Cougars didn't win any conference titles, but collected good points with top-three finishes in women's golf, women's cross country and volleyball to keep them within striking distance of the 'Jackets. Northwestern also remains in strong position thanks to an 11th-straight championship win in volleyball and a championship in women's golf – the first for the Eagles since 2008.

Bethany Lutheran College and Martin Luther College tallied respectable totals that keep them within a good margin of the top three teams with 34 points and 30 points, respectively. Bethany Lutheran collected championships in men's golf and men's soccer, and Martin Luther won women's cross country.

The standings rounded out with Northland College in sixth (19.5 points) and Crown College and North Central University tied for seventh with 15 points.

The award began in 1996-97 and is named after Mr. Jerome Kruse, a longtime athletic director at the former Northwestern College (Wis.) and Martin Luther. It travels to the full-member institution with the most points accumulated by the place finishes of the college's athletic teams in the final standings of 18 conference sponsored sports.
