UMAC Lessons from Leaders: Ryan Kragh, Bethany Lutheran
The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Lessons from Leaders video series is released Wednesdays in 2019-20 and features Commissioner Corey Borchardt interviewing conference coaches about their success within the conference and at the regional and national levels. The series promotes coaches who have helped enhance the identity and image of the conference as whole. The interviewees include coaches who either won a UMAC regular season or postseason title in 2018-19 or were featured as a UMAC Coach of the Decade during the conference's "10-Year Celebration."
The UMAC Lessons from Leaders series concludes with Commissioner Corey Borchardt's final interview via a virtual format with Bethany Lutheran College head baseball coach Ryan Kragh who has led his program to back-to-back UMAC Tournament Championship titles in 2018 and 2019 and consecutive trips to the NCAA postseason tournament.
Kragh began his 16th season as head coach of the Viking baseball program before seeing it cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, Kragh has compiled 303 career wins and won the program's first regular season title with a share in 2018.
Borchardt talks to Kragh about his career path and how he's grown as a leader during his time leading the Vikings. Additionally, Kragh discusses the similarities of his collegiate career to the shortened season for this year's team and how that has helped him lead and show care for his athletes in these unprecedented times in college athletics.
The
entire interview can be viewed on the UMAC YouTube channel (umacathletics).
