2020 Spring Salute: Martin Luther College

Bookmark and Share

Following the cancellation of remaining spring sport seasons and tournaments and championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) launched the "2020 Spring Salute" as a means to honor all conference programs, coaches and student-athletes during the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year.

The UMAC would like to recognize Martin Luther College administrators, coaches, staff and student-athletes for their commitment to the mission, vision and core values of the conference. During this incredibly difficult time, we appreciate all that Martin Luther leadership has done for athletics and especially spring sport student-athletes who saw their seasons end abruptly.

Martin Luther and the UMAC would like to thank the following senior and graduating student-athletes for their dedication to their respective sports during their collegiate careers. Being a student-athlete is no easy task, but it will prepare them to go out to lead and make an incredible difference in the world. Thank you, seniors!

Below are messages from some Martin Luther spring sport coaches to their teams and seniors:
From Baseball Head Coach Randy Cox: "A group of Seniors that worked hard to compete and be one of the top Senior classes I have had since coaching at Martin Luther College. Truly disappointing not to finish the Baseball season with this group and to see how they would have competed against the other UMAC Baseball programs. A group of Seniors that I will always remember for their work ethic and competitiveness."

From Softball Head Coach Matt Pearson: "Seniors - Thanks for your dedication and commitment to Knights softball and for being excellent ambassadors for Martin Luther College and our Christian values.  God's blessings to each one of you as you step into the next chapter of your lives."

"Becca- Thanks for your tireless energy and enthusiasm that really sparked our team's fire and drive. Your drag bunts were sick! Becky- Not only will your consistent quality pitching be missed but also your servant leadership with our team, too. And thanks for those Dad jokes! Maddie- Thanks for your lead-by-example attitude. Your glove and bat will be missed! Allie- You are always positive, encouraging others to do their best, and would put the team ahead of yourself. Thanks for being a model of our team's pillars. Mykenna- Thanks for your flexibility over the years. From pitcher to left field, from center to pinch runner, we asked a lot of you. You set a great example for others by embracing all of your roles. Thanks for rocking your spots! Morgan- Not only will your pitching on the field be missed, but also your fun personality in the dugout and in practices. Thanks, Morgan!"

From Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach Arlen Koestler: "Team: Sorry about the short season. The Lord has his reasons, trust Him. To the seniors: the Lord's blessings on your future endeavors. To the underclassmen: Practice hard and we'll see you next season. 'The Lord bless you and keep you.' Numbers 6:24."

From Men's Golf Coach Matt Pearson: "Seniors - thank you for your leadership for our golf team. You raised the bar for future Knight golfers with your in-practice work ethic, in-competition mental toughness, and overall love for the game."
