Reigning champion Wisconsin-Superior takes UMAC Preview event title

BECKER, Minn.---The reigning Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) men's team champion University of Wisconsin-Superior started off the 2019 season with another win against conference competition as it captured its second-ever UMAC Preview team victory Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club. 

Joey Cummings led the Yellowjackets earning medalist honors with a round of 74 (+2) and helped the 'Jackets finish 10 strokes ahead of the College of St. Scholastica carding the top team score of 309 (+21)

Highlights
  • The Yellowjackets have now won the UMAC Preview event twice in the last three seasons. 
  • Cummings is the first Yellowjacket to win medalist honors at the UMAC Preview since 2015 (Anton Svensson) which was the first year Wisconsin-Superior competed in the UMAC. 
  • Cummings has now won both the UMAC Championship (2017) and UMAC Preview (2019) events as an individual.
  • Just 13 total strokes separated the top three teams in scoring.
  • Five Wisconsin-Superior golfers finished in the top eight in individual scoring at the UMAC Preview.
