Eagles fly into UMAC men's tennis championship with semifinal win
ST. PAUL, Minn.---The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) men's tennis postseason tournament played on Wednesday after weather delays, and the University of Northwestern defeated the University of Wisconsin-Superior to set up a rematch for the conference tournament championship Saturday with the College of St. Scholastica.
The Eagles defeated the Yellowjackets 7-2 for the second time in five days and will now look to defend their tournament title against a Saints' squad that won their last matchup on Saturday.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick lead over the Yellowjackets Wednesday taking all three doubles matches but it wasn't without a fight. No. 3 doubles pair Colton Paskewitz and Matthew Wedin cruised to a 8-2 win, while the other two spots had to hold off the Yellowjackets for 8-5 victories.
Harry Simpson and Carter Lamont picked up wins quickly at No. 4 and No. 6 singles for the Yellowjackets to even the score at 3-2. However, Wedin battled at No. 5 singles for a three-set victory to give the Eagles a 4-2 lead before the final three singles groups went on.
Davis Pfaff closed out the win, though, with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 singles spots. The match closed out with a straight-set wins from Landon Ridpath and Austin Bricker at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
With the win, the Eagles have now won eight of their last nine matches and improve to 15-8 overall. The Yellowjackets fall to 7-11 on the season after qualifying for the UMAC tournament for the second year in a row as the No. 3 seed.
