Wendel – who was named the UMAC Player of the Year last month – was one of 15 players tabbed for the prestigious postseason accolade and was the lone conference representative on the list. The junior forward earned his second All-UMAC First Team honor in as many seasons and was three times named the UMAC Player of the Week in helping the Storm to 17-10 overall record and 10-6 conference mark. He was also named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week after a 40-point performance in the Storm's defeat of the University of Northwestern in December.

The Storm star led almost every individual statistical category in conference play including scoring (23.9 ppg), rebounding (10.4 rpg), 3-point field goal percentage (45.1), free throw percentage (86.1), blocking (1.3 blocks per game - bpg). He also ranked in the top three in field goal percentage (53.4) and steals (1.8 steals per game - spg). He also ranked in the top three in the same categories for overall games. He also owned 13 double-doubles and scored 30-plus points in five games.

Wendel was among players named from the West Region that included schools from the UMAC as well as the American Rivers Conference (ARC), Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), Northwest Conference (NWC) and the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Ryan Garver of Nebraska Wesleyan University (ARC) was named the West Region Player of the Year. John Tauer of the University of St. Thomas (MIAC) was selected the Coach of the Year and Anders Nelson of St. Thomas was the Rookie of the Year.
