No. 4 Yellowjackets cruise into UMAC volleyball tournament semifinal with win Monday
SUPERIOR, Wis.---The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) volleyball tournament started off with a big win for No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Superior as they collected an impressive 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-18) win over No. 5 Bethany Lutheran College Monday to earn a spot in the semifinal round.

The Yellowjackets put together a dominant performance in front of their home crowd Monday hitting .340 as a team and committing just a total of seven hitting errors over the course of the match. They also compiled five total blocks and recorded four service aces.
Bethany Lutheran took the opening points in each of the first and second sets, but the Yellowjackets responded quickly and went on runs early in each set to set the tone for the remainder of the match. The Vikings battled early in the third set holding small leads and remaining even until 14-14 before the 'Jackets went on a 6-0 run to go up 20-14 en route to victory.
Cami Sletta led the attack for the Yellowjackets tallying 15 kills and hitting .522. Hannah Goggleye was also a big contributor with 12 kills and three blocks. Gina Baertsch set up the offense with 20 assists, while Brylee Colligan held down the defense with 15 digs.
For the Vikings, Megan Rutt and Alexis Morsching each recorded 11 kills for team highs. Brittany Sanders had 26 assists and Veeva Lee picked up a team-high 16 digs. The Vikings finished their season 11-17.
The No. 4 Yellowjackets will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota, Wednesday to take on No. 1 University of Northwestern while No. 2 University of Minnesota Morris will host No. 3 College of St. Scholastica in Morris, Minnesota. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. with the winners heading to the tournament championship Saturday.
